Beach Babe Bicycling Classic – Long Beach, CA

Beach Babe Women’s Bike Ride – June 25, 2017
Here’s the deal! Each summer we host the Beach Babe Bicycling Classic – a casual, fun women’s bike ride along the coast from Long Beach to Huntington Beach and back. We have a palm tree-lined start, surf music, and the babes are adorned with all things beach – from leis to pink flamingos! The ride is not timed, everyone’s a winner, and you get to soak in the scene like a true Southern California Girl as you nibble on delectable cuisine at rest stops along the way. Marvel in the sites and bask in the glow of your accomplishment when you cross the finish line with friends! Once you ride as a beach babe, like summer, you’ll be back each year.

The Course
To safely and successful complete the Beach Babe Classic in style, train properly and maintain an 11 mph pace or better for the ride. Review the turn sheet we will give you at registration check in. The start along the bike trail in Long Beach will be nice and wide. As you get in to Huntington Beach, there is more pedestrian traffic on the bike trail. Go slow and enjoy the vibe. It’s not a race. Enjoy the sights and surfers, and do use a bike bell as a courteous reminder for those who may not be looking at you (at the moment!). Get a better feel for the course by viewing the map of the course. Please keep in mind that all course details are subject to change so stay tuned for the official course details and route sheets during the week prior to the ride.

Make it a girls getaway and plan to arrive on Friday or Saturday and relax into your run or ride weekend. There are many things to do in Long Beach including whale watching tours, day trips to Catalina Island, boutique shopping in Retro Row, Belmont Shore, and the Shoreline Village. And do book a gondola ride in Naples (yes, like Italy!) complete with a singing student from California State University, Long Beach.

All riders will depart from Pierpoint Landing in Long Beach, enjoy a rest stop in Seal Beach, continue on to Huntington Beach and enjoy a rest stop there, then turnaround and return to Long Beach.

If you are not traveling the entire distance, your turnaround is in SEAL BEACH which is about midpoint. If you are tired and cannot travel as far as you planned, turnaround at any point (must ride on the proper side of the street and far right side on a dedicated bike trail).
